Weight Loss on the Road

You've started a weight loss program and things are going good. You have set aside time during the week for your exercise routines, you've stocked your fridge and cupboards with healthy foods and the weight is coming off. But now you are planning a trip and your whole schedule is about to change. You don't want to undo everything you have worked hard for, but you also don't want to be stuck at home forever. What you need are some simple tips to help you stay on track while on the road. Dieting on the go Tip #1 If you are traveling by car, plan ahead for your snacks and meals. Pack a small cooler with some healthy snacks like carrots, yogurts, whole wheat crackers and low fat cheeses. These types of foods can hold you over until you stop for a meal. If your trip is by plane, then you can also carry on healthy snack foods if it is a long flight or right at the time you need to eat. Weight Loss While Traveling Tip #2 Map out your destination and look on the internet ahead of time for the right restaurants. You don’t want to undo everything by eating too much fast food. So pick your eating places ahead of time and plan your trip accordingly. For the sit down restaurants, make sure to add a salad to your meal. This will help fill you up so you eat less of the wrong foods. Make your food selections as healthy as possible but still enjoy yourself on your vacation or business trip. Losing Weight on the Road Tip #3 Pack some resistance bands and/or an exercise DVD. This way you will be prepared to keep up with your workout routines. Although you won’t be able to take your treadmill with you, you can still be active while on the road. Resistance bands and light and easy to pack in your luggage. Also plan for some activities that will keep you moving like site seeing, hiking or a night out on the town dancing. Staying active while traveling will help burn the calories and keep you losing weight. So go ahead and plan that vacation, business trip or family reunion – just be sure to also plan on ways to stay on your weight loss plan.
