Once you know what animal you want to be, then you can pick your colors and other craft supplies. The supplies and directions below are for a lion, but your animal could be a cute puppy dog, a furry kitten or even an elephant. Supplies 1 Sturdy Paper Plate (use a snack size for smaller children and a dinner size for bigger kids) Yellow or Orange Paint Yarn Black Marker Scissors Paint Brush Craft Knife Hole Punch Directions 1. Paint the bottom of the paper plate. This will be the front of the mask. Let this dry completely. 2. Put the paper plate up to your face and ask an adult to mark the spots for the eyes with a pencil or marker. Mark this on the inside of the plate. 3. Draw out the eyes (on the inside) where it is marked. 4. Have an adult cut out the eyes with the craft knife. 5. Punch a hole on each side of the plate parallel with the eyes. 6. With the black marker, draw on the lion’s nose and mouth. 7. Cut several strips of yarn and glue this all around the rim of the plate to create the lion’s mane. 8. Lastly, cut two lengths of yarn (enough to tie around the child’s head) and thread these through the holes you punched. To have fun with your mask, have someone tie this around your head and then you can pretend to be a ferocious lion.
